"Following the recommendations of the COVID-19 Tournament Medical Group and the Medical Committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation, the Board of the International Ice Hockey Federation has decided to cancel the 2022 World Youth Championship due to the spread of the coronavirus and the strain Omicron to ensure the health of all participants," mentions the statement.
The decision was made after the coronavirus was confirmed to the athlete of the Russian team. It was the third game canceled after the matches between Switzerland - USA and Finland - Czech Republic due to the confirmation of COVID-19.
