A year and a half ago kidnapped Italian woman returns home

"Italian Sylvia Romano, kidnapped in Kenya in 2018, has returned home" – says the statement of the Foreign Minister.

Sylvia Romano had worked in support of African children with African Milele organization. The young woman, 23, was kidnapped by Somalian persons in a remote region of Kenya.

In January, the current year, the Somalian extremist group published a video showing Sylvia Romano speaking that she was doing well. Since then, the Italian intelligence service was leading negotiations with the Somalian extremists' group Al-Shabab. After paying the ransom, the woman was set free.

Sylvia returned home on Sunday, midday. Her inmates and Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte and Foreign Minister Luigi di Mayo met her at the airport.
