Armenian PM resigns

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has resigned as the country prepares for snap parliamentary elections.

“I am resigning for snap parliamentary elections to be held on June 20. Meanwhile, I will continue fulfilling the functions of Armenia’s PM,’’ Pashinyan said.

Earlier in March, he pledged to resign in April for Armenia to hold snap elections.

Under the Armenian legislation, the PM must resign before snap elections for the parliament not to elect the same PM twice.
