Austria, Germany see massive anti-lockdown protests

Thousands of people have gathered in cities in Sweden, Austria, Germany and Ireland to protest against coronavirus restrictions in signs some Europeans are growing angry over lockdowns, Yahoo reports.

There were separate protests on Saturday in Stockholm, Vienna, Munich and Cork, with local police making several arrests and controlling crowds.

Vienna saw a huge protest of thousands of people, with buses of protesters arriving from outside the capital while far-right groups also joined the crowds.

Swedish police dispersed hundreds of anti-lockdown demonstrators who had gathered in central Stockholm.

Authorities said the demonstration, the first major protest against Sweden's coronavirus restrictions, was illegal.
