Belarus arrested 1,139 protesters in March, 2021

As reported by the Belarusian human rights organization Viasna, law enforcers arrested 1,139 protesters during anti-government demonstrations in March 2021.

DW reports that 841 people were arrested in Minsk, and there were at least 36 journalists among the detainees.

Belarus has been hosting protests since August 9, when the government announced the results of the presidential elections.

The protesters do not recognize the election results and demand the resignation of Alexander Lukashenko.
