Bulgarians remained without water go for the march of protest

Water supply restrictions in Perniks have triggered massive protests. Around a hundred thousand protestors gathered at the local government building and demanded an immediate solution to the problem. They assess the situation in the region as a humanitarian crisis.

The water deficiency has been bothering the residents of Pernik the whole month. The water is supplied according to the schedule. The city mayor had to cancel the annual festival. There is a threat that the water reservoir will be empty in two weeks.

The Minister of Environment Protection, Neno Dimov, admitted that the situation is the result of bad resource management. There is a doubt that he permitted the local enterprises to use big volumes of water, which resulted in water deficiency. The investigation of the case is launched. If the accusations are proved the Minister is facing eight-year imprisonment.
