Chinese government: Wuhan authorities to conceal the COVID information

Chuan Nanshan, the Government Leading Advisor on COVID issues, is suspecting the local authorities in concealing the real scale of the virus spread at its initial stage, CNN writes.

“The local authorities did not want to tell the truth at that moment. Initially, they cogitated. I would say that the real number of infected people was much bigger than the reported,” – the epidemiologist said.

Nanshan says the doubt on the data covering appeared when during the first ten days, they reported 41 infected. Besides, when he arrived in Wuhan, on January 18, many of the local doctors warned him that the situation was much worse than the government presented it.

CNN reports that Nanshan was the first who announced human-to-human transmission of the COVID-19 on January 20.
