The death toll from coronavirus in Latin America has exceeded 500 000. More than 15 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the region.
More than a third of the deaths reported in Latin America have been detected in Brazil, where more than 1 100 people have died in the past day alone. More than a quarter of all deaths are reported in Mexico, where partial quarantine is in place due to the sharp increase in coronavirus cases and hospitalization.
