Early Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan update

Azerbaijan holds early Parliamentary elections today. The population votes for one hundred and twenty-five deputies of “Mili Mejlis.”

The voting process started at 08:00 in all voting points.

According to the Chairman of Central Election Commission, Mazahir Panakhov, each of one hundred and twenty-five regions, to vote for their respective representatives. Ten out of the candidates to be elected by internally displaced persons. The total number of candidates is 1314; three hundred and five are not any party members. Seventy-nine percent of the registered candidates are men; hence twenty-one percent are women.

Over five million citizens are eligible to participate in voting. The total number of the published voting bulletins is 5 387 600.

Eight hundred and eighty-three international monitors observe the process. They represent fifty-nine organizations and fifty-eight countries; the number of local monitors is 77 790.

One hundred and ninety-nine media representatives from one hundred and thirty-two media companies of forty-nine countries broadcast the early elections process in Azerbaijan.

The voting stops at 19:00 today.
