The European Parliament does not recognize the election of Alexander Lukashenko as the president of Belarus.
MEPs have released a joint statement, saying that Lukashenko is declared persona non grata in the European Union.
The MEPs note that the Belarus elections were not fair and free.
The EU demands the conduction of free elections under the monitoring of independent observers and investigation of the facts of violence towards protesters.
