Flood kills 59 people in India

The cumulative death-count due to flooding and landslides has risen to 59 across the North-West parts of India during the last week, NDTV reports.

Asama state reports the disaster to last a few days. The water of Brahmaputra is at a critical level. Over 1.3 million people live in the area of the disaster. More than 1,636 villages and settlements are flooded.

The government set over 150 camps. The authorities have distributed rice, cereals, and other relief items to the affected population.
