Government of Kazakhstan resigns

Tokayev has nominated Alikhan Smailov as acting prime minister. A two-week state of emergency has been declared in Almaty and West Mangystau Province.

A curfew was imposed from 11:00 to 7:00. In addition, mass gatherings were banned.
