Hikmet Hajiyev: Georgia, Azerbaijan are good neighbors

Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, says that Azerbaijan and Georgia have friendly relations and strategic partnerships.

''Our ties are exemplary for other countries,'' he said.

As Hajiyev told azertag.az, both countries suffer territorial integrity problems and support each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

''Azerbaijan and Georgia successfully carry out vital energy and transport projects. By the end of 2020, we expect the southern gas corridor to be commissioned, and it will be another history of success,'' Hajiyev says.

Hajiyev says that Azerbaijani companies are large taxpayers in Georgia, and they have new proposals for further development of economic cooperation.

"A constructive dialogue based on trust has been established between the authorities of Azerbaijan and Georgia. We can openly and in a friendly manner, discuss any issue. This cooperation is mutually beneficial and serves the interests of our peoples and states. We highly appreciate the fact that the other day official Tbilisi did not allow the transit of weapons to Armenia through Georgia's territory,'' Hajiyev stated.

In his words, the Azerbaijan and Georgia governments are determined to deepen relations in the future further.
