The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, participated in the “Absheron” naval operations opening ceremony on September 19. In the ceremony, the President talked about Azerbaijan and Georgia friendly relationships.
“I value the contribution of the Georgian government in this event. As you have already acknowledged, Georgia did not permit weapons to Armenia through its territory. It is the reason for supplying Armenia with weapons through Caspian countries and air. Georgia acted as a reliable partner for which we are grateful to the Georgian government. I can say that we see a reliable partner and friend in the face of the Georgian government. The relationships between governments are daily strengthening. We are implementing many joint projects. Our Minister of Foreign Affairs is planning a visit to Georgia in the nearest future… The program of this visit that covers many spheres is now being prepared. We have historical contacts and common interests that unite us. Relationships and cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan are in the interests of both countries. I want to repeat that Georgia and Azerbaijan's governments are in close contact that will last in the future.
Azerbaijan was always supporting Georgia… Azerbaijan was always for the development, well-being, and stability of Georgia… Azerbaijan always expresses univocal position regarding Georgia integrity with all international organizations.”- said Ilham Aliyev.
Gas deposits of Absheron are in 500 meters depths of the Azerbaijanian part of the Caspian Sea. The volume of deposits is 350 billion cubic meters of gas and 45 million tons of condensate. In the framework of the project, Azerbaijan plans to build support blocks and other underwater structures as well as bridges, aircraft, ignition systems, underwater structures, and pipelines.
