Ilham Aliyev responds to accusations of attracting mercenaries to Karabakh

"Paris has failed to provide evidence of the deployment of mercenaries in Nagorno-Karabakh," said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with CNN Turk.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said Paris had information that mercenaries had arrived from Syria to take part in hostilities in Karabakh.

"Ten days have passed, but we have not received any evidence from France," Aliyev said.

The President of Azerbaijan said that the mediators in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including France, should be "responsible and neutral" in their work.

The President of Azerbaijan also assessed Russia's position on Karabakh and said it does not raise any questions or complaints.
