International airport opened in Beijing

On the 70th anniversary of Chinese Republic a new huge international airport has been opened north of Beijing. The Daxing Airport was built according to architect Zaha Hadid's project.

The opening ceremony was attended by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping.

The airport plans to serve 72 million passengers and to carry 2 million tonnes of luggage by 2025. The airport has 7 runways that can accommodate about 100 million passengers and 4 million cargo.

The $ 11.5 billion worth construction began in 2014. More than 400,000 people were involved in the building process.
