The total number of confirmed cases rose to 162,488, with the number of the infected increasing by 2,972 (1.8%) in a single day in Italy with this being the lowest figures since the coronavirus outbreak.
The rate of people dying has also increased by 602 in the past 24 hours, with the number of the deceased now reaching 21,067.
Meanwhile, of those infected nationwide, 37,130 have fully recovered.
