NASA releases photos of Mars sand dunes - PHOTO

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a photo of dunes in a frosty crater on northern Mars.

As noted in NASA, the crater has a diameter of about five kilometers and is located in the high northern latitudes of Mars.

The surface of the primary dune field is characterized by a series of dark patterns, which may be a consequence of seasonal frost processes.

The bottom of the crater has a varied texture and striped patterns that resemble snakeskin. It indicates seasonal melting caused by ice sublimation.
