Presidential elections in Iceland

Iceland is selecting the country President today, reports local media.

Current President, Godni Johannesson, is forecasted to get 90% of votes and rule the country for the next four years. Johannesson does not represent any of the political parties. The polling centers are open since 11:00 today.

The main competitor of Johannesson is Gudmundur Franklin Ionson. He is representing the right-wing forces.

President in Iceland has representation function in the country, though he also has the veto right and the right to conduct a referendum.

To prevent the epidemic spread, people follow 2-meter distance recommendations at polling centers.
