Protesters hold a march in Furgal’s support

People marched through the streets of the Russian city of Khabarovsk, marking the seventh consecutive weekend of protests after the region’s governor, Sergei Furgal, was detained, Reuters writes.

Reportedly, around 1,500 people participate in the march against the anti-crisis measures undertaken by Vladimir Putin.

Protesters confront the Kremlin and demand release of Sergei Furgal.

Sergei Furgal was arrested on June 9. He is accused of organizing the murder of two businessmen in 2004-2005. In case the accusation is confirmed, the former governor will face a life sentence.

The supporters of the former governor label it as a political arrest.
