Protesters in Beirut demanding resignation of government

In the aftermath of a large-scale explosion in the Lebanese capital, residents took to the streets demanding the government's resignation. Police used tear gas against the protesters. Both sides got injured in the confrontation with the police.

The number of people injured in the August 4 explosion in the port of Beirut has risen to 157. Up to 5,000 were seriously injured, 300,000 were left homeless, and the country suffered between $ 10 billion and $ 15 billion in damage. A state of emergency has been declared in Beirut for two weeks.
