Rocket attack on the “Green Zone” in Baghdad

A rocket fired towards Baghdad’s Green Zone, which hosts the USA and other embassies, fell just short, causing damage to a home and injuring a child, Reuters writes.

At the same time, security forces stopped another rocket from being launched at the Taji military airbase north of Baghdad, which hosts American troops.

No known groups have claimed responsibility for the act, though USA officials blame Iran-backed militia for regular rocket attacks on American facilities in Iraq.

Iraq conducted a raid in Hezbollah’s office in the south of Baghdad and arrested over ten people linked to the rocket attacks last week. Most of the arrested were soon released.
