Secretary-General of the UN on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has called on the world community to assist in the immediate cessation of hostilities in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

The Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, revealed the position of Guterres.

The UN spokesman said the Secretary-General condemned the escalation of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and was seriously concerned about the fighting, especially in the area of peaceful settlements.

Antonio Guterres says that resolving the conflict through hostilities is inadmissible. He called on the parties to immediately cease fire and sit down at the negotiating table under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.
