The US declares state of emergency over cyber attack on fuel company

The United States has suspended work on the Colonial Pipeline, the largest fuel operator, due to a cyber attack and declared a regional state of emergency, BBC reports.

Colonial Pipeline manufactures fuel shipping and pipeline construction. In order to avoid imminent threats, certain systems have been temporarily shut down. The company claims that the cyber attack took place through a so-called extortion program. According to international media, the criminal group DarkSide is behind the hacker attack. They were able to steal 100 gigabytes of information from the company.
