The US to reduce troops to 5,000 in Afghanistan

The United States plans to cut its troop levels in Afghanistan to “a number less than 5,000” by the end of November, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said. By the end of 2020, there will be less than 5,000 American soldiers left in Afghanistan, writes Reuters.

Currently, there are 8,600 American soldiers in Afghanistan. Earlier in his TV interview, Donald Trump said he planned to cut the troops to 4,000 in Afghanistan.
