Ultimatum to Lukashenko expires

On October 25, the "people's ultimatum" presented by one of the opposition leaders, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya to the Belarus government, expires, DW reports.

Demands include Lukashenko's announcement of his resignation, an end to street violence, and all political prisoners' release.

If the ultimatum is not met on October 26, the protesters will go on a general strike. Besides, participants in the actions will stop using state banks' services, stop buying goods in state stores, and block roads.

The Belarus protests began after the announcement of the presidential elections' results.

Citizens state the August 9 elections were held in violation of the rules.

They demand President Alexander Lukashenko to resign.
