"The UN is watching with concern the clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia and calls on the parties to act following the provisions of the tripartite declarations of November 9, 2020, and January 11 of 2021," Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary‑General, stated. The press release is posted on the UN website.
He called on the parties to resolve any issues through peaceful dialogue.
"We are still receiving information about current events and will comment later. Although there are obvious developments and we are concerned about the recent incidents of violence, we still need to verify the full information. We want to avoid the previous escalation," Haq said.
