US-Russia talks begin in an expanded format

The first round of the US-Russia meeting began in Geneva at the Villa La Grange with an extended format. The meeting is closed to the press.

Antony Blinken, the United States Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs; John Sullivan, the US Ambassador to Russia; and Eric Green, the Senior Director of the National Security Council on Russia, will be taking part in the meeting from the US side.

Putin is accompanied by Assistant to the President Yuri Ushakov, the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Spokesman for the President Dmitry Peskov, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, the Chief of General Staff of the Ministry of Defense Valery Gerasimov, and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Dmitry Kozak, and Special Representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev are also invited to the meeting.

The second round of the meeting with the participation of delegations will start at 18:40 Tbilisi time. Biden will hold a press conference after meeting with Putin.

According to the White House, after the meeting with Putin, the US President will return to Washington on June 16, at 23:00 local time (7:00 Tbilisi time).
