USA sanctions two Hong Kong leaders

The U.S. sanctions Hong Kong Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, and several officials, DW writes.

Reportedly, the U.S. has frozen bank accounts of ten high-level officials.

Washington explains that Carrie Lam is responsible for actions against Beijing, expressed in deprivation of freedom and suppression of democratic principles.

Hong Kong assessed the Washington act as a cruel and irrational step.
