Venice canals dry as tides are low - VIDEO

Shallow tides on Friday left some of Venice's canals dry, BBC reports.

In stark contrast to floods in December, boats and gondolas were beached, it adds.

Reports say it was caused by intense atmospheric pressure influencing the water level.

In recent times, the canals' water level dropped by 55 cm.

Seasonally, Venice still faces floods, especially in springs, when the canals pool the buildings' first floors.
