Employees of the State Sub-Agency Department of Environmental Supervision revealed the fact of illegal hunting in Akhaltsikhe municipality.
According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, a citizen near the village of Tkemlana killed a Caucasian brown bear cub from the Red List of Threatened Species with an unregistered weapon. The bear cub weighted 30 kilograms.
"The offender was transporting the killed cub with two accompanying persons. He tried to flee the scene, but the employees of the State Sub-Agency Department of Environmental Supervision did not allow him to do so. The offender confessed to the crime," the Department reports.
