Following the operative-investigative activities, police officers at the Kvemo Kartli Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained an Azerbaijani citizen (DOB 1992), known only as S.V., and charged him with first-degree murder. Perpetrators of similar crimes are sentenced to 7 to 15 years in prison.
"Investigators learned that in the Dmanisi municipality, the accused inflicted a stab wound on his acquaintance, known only as S.B. (DOB 2000), after a verbal altercation and fled the crime scene. The wounded man died shortly after hospitalization.
Law enforcers detained the accused soon after the perpetration of the criminal act.
The police retrieved the knife with which the murder was committed as evidence. The investigation has been launched under article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisaging crimes of criminal homicide," the statement by the MIA reads.
