Employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as a result of the measures taken in coordination with the representatives of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, charged one person with smuggling a large number of undeclared goods across the customs border of Georgia.
The investigation established that the accused brought various goods to Georgia through the Sarpi customs checkpoint, as a result of customs control, undeclared precious metal products were found. More than 5 kilograms of gold items with a customs value of more than GEL 565,000 were seized.
The investigation is underway under the second part of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years.
