Georgian police solved a murder case swiftly in Georgia’s town of Zugdidi, as they arrested a 22-year-old accused.

Following the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, in Zugdidi, the accused person, identified only as R.P., born in 1998, inflicted fatal injuries on an acquaintance, a man born in 1983, during a dispute. The motive for the crime is revenge. To hide the traces of the crime, the accused set fire to the apartment and disappeared.

After the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a message about a fire in one of the residential buildings located in Zugdidi, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. They found the man already dead. The suspect was arrested in Zugdidi a few hours after he committed the crime.

A knife was seized as material evidence. The detainee has pleaded guilty.

He faces seven to 15 years in jail.
