Employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service detained three people for buying and selling baby as a result of operative-investigative actions.
"The investigation established that the couple living in Dusheti had a son on June 18, 2020. To earn a large amount of money, they intended to sell the child. The parents contacted the person and agreed to sell the child in exchange for $ 5,000. The person who agreed to pay the money for the baby later registered as the father of the newborn in the civil registry and took the birth certificate. Under the agreement, the newborn's parents received $ 5,000. That is when they were arrested," the agency said.
The investigation is underway into the fact of the illegal transaction against a minor, which carries a sentence of two to five years in prison.
The Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia conducts the investigation.
