The MIA has released a video showing the scenes of two hostages leaving the Bank of Georgia building in the Zugdidi municipality.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimer Bortsvadze said hostage negotiations are still underway, with them trying to convince the hostage-taker to free more victims.
The number of hostages inside the bank is now unknown.
An armed man broke into the Bank of Georgia and took hostages on Gamsakhurdia street in the Zugdidi municipality earlier today. The hostage-taker, who held 19 people hostage, demanded USD 500,000 in cash and security guarantees.
A special operation was launched a couple of hours ago and is still in progress.
