"Employees of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of complex operative and investigative measures carried out together with the General Prosecutor's Office and the Department of Special Tasks, arrested nine people based on the judge's decision," Mamuka Chelidze, the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department stated at the briefing held at the Ministry.
The offenses carry a sentence of 3 to 10 years in prison.
The investigation established that the members of the "thieves' world," on the instructions of the "thief in law" abroad and using their own criminal authority, from May 2021, were organizing a collection of money from self-employed private taxi drivers working in Tbilisi International Airport.
