Officers of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia arrested one person on suspicion of money counterfeiting.
"The investigation revealed that the accused forged US $ 50 banknotes in Tbilisi. Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance seized a total of $ 16 550 worth banknotes," the agency said.
The investigation launched under the second part of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime is punishable by imprisonment for the term of 7 to 10 years.
