Two young men aged 20 and 21 robbed a branch of Adjarapay and stole GEL 35 500 in Rustavi.
As the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed report.ge, both of them have been arrested. The stolen money was taken from their apartments. The perpetrators face between 8 and 12 years in prison.
"Officers of the Rustavi City Division of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to operative-investigative actions detained Sh.T., born in 1999, and N.T., born in 2000, on charges of robbery committed by the group.
The offense carries a maximum sentence of 8 to 12 years in prison. The investigation revealed that the accused robbed the branch of Adjarapay in Rustavi, stole GEL 35 500 from the operator, threatening to use a weapon, and fled the scene.
Law enforcers arrested Sh.T. and N.T. a few hours after the incident.
Police seized the stolen money as evidence due to a search of the residential apartments of the accused; the weapon of the crime - a pistol, was also seized.
The fact of gang robbery is being investigated under the 2nd and 3rd parts of Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
