The State Inspector's service has launched an investigation into the possible inhumane treatment of Georgia's third president, Mikheil Saakashvili.
According to the agency's statement, Mikheil Saakashvili will be interrogated, and then the necessary investigative and procedural actions will be planned, including medical examination.
"The State Inspector's service has already had communication with M. Saakashvili's lawyer to interview M. Saakashvili. Based on the information provided, it is planned to conduct the necessary investigative and procedural actions with M. Saakashvili, including a medical examination.
The State Inspector's service has already applied to the Special Penitentiary Service to archive the video recordings.
The service will work with M. Saakashvili and his lawyers in order to keep them fully informed about their involvement in the investigation process and the progress of the investigation," the statement said.
