Law enforcers arrested G.P., born in 1996, and L.M., born in 2001, on the facts of illegal purchase, storage, preparation to sell a new psychoactive substance by a preliminary agreement by a group in Tbilisi.
"The investigation revealed that the detainees planned to purchase a new psychoactive substance by mail and sell it through the so-called "betting method." In order to commit the crime, the package arrived in Georgia. The parcel contained a new psychoactive substance, which belongs to the cannabinoid chemicals of new psychoactive substances. The detainees met to organize the 'placing' of drugs at pre-selected locations, during which they got detained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as accused," reads the statement.
According to the agency, the investigation launched under Article 18-260, Part 2, 4, 5, Subparagraph B, and Article 260, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which deals with the illegal purchase and sale of a new psychoactive substance committed by prior agreement by the group and involving the illegal purchase and storage of a new psychoactive substance.
The offense carries a maximum sentence of 7 to 14 years in prison.
