The Chapel near Khulgumo village in Akhalkalaki was raided for the second time. Icons and church items have been damaged. The church was first raided in April.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation was launched under the first part of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which involves the intentional damage or destruction of cultural heritage sites or other cultural heritage.
The crime is punishable by fine or imprisonment for up to two years.
