The Prosecutor's Office of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti has charged Chairman of the Poti Municipality Assembly, known as I.K., former Head of the Department for Construction, Infrastructure, Transport, Urban Development, Architecture, and Administrative Monitoring, known as Z.K., and Director of ltd Island known as E.G. for the appropriation of the government funds and embezzlement.
The Report.ge News Agency has been informed by the Prosecutor's Office that the two aforementioned individuals, known as I.K. and Z.K., abused their power and failed to protect the interests of the state. More specifically, in constructing the Poti theatre, the mentioned public officials accepted the fake delivery and acceptance certificate saying that the cost of the carried out construction works amounted to GEL 9102139.71, while the cost of the same works was GEL 359 222.81 less. By breaking the law and abusing their power, I.K. and Z.K. assisted the Director of the contracting company, which carried out construction works, in appropriating GEL 359 222.81, with this resulting in the violation of the national interests.
The investigation into the case is in progress, with the crime envisaging from 7 to 11 years in prison.
