The process of returning film heritage to the homeland preserved by Russia in Gosfilmofond continues.

Report.ge was informed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

These films were shot from 1926 to 1930 and due to their antiquity the original materials of the films are in poor condition. The agency explained that this was the priority when selecting the films.

Report.ge offers a list of films that will arrive in Georgia:

  • Their Kingdom (1928) - directors M. Kalatozishvili, N. Ghogoberidze;
  • Hanuma (1926); Two Hunters (1927); Rebellion in Guria (1928) - directed by Alexandre Tsutsunava;
  • Gogi Ratiani (1927); Croissant (1928); Communal pipe - directed by Kote Marjanishvili;
  • Bella (1927) - directed by Vladimir Barsky;
  • Giuli (1927) - directed by Nikoloz Shengelaia;
  • Ibrahim and Goderdzi (first and last - 1927); Cloud Shelter (Meeting with Life - 1928) - director Zakaria Berishvili;
  • Young Pilot (1928) - directed by Nikoloz Kakhidze;
  • Woman from the Market (1928) - directed by Giorgi Makarov;
  • Youth Wins (1928) - directed by Mikhail Gelovani;
  • My Grandmother (1928 - Old Version) - directed by Kote Mikaberidze;
  • Saba (1929) - directed by Mikheil Chiaureli;
  • Repentance (1986) - directed by Tengiz Abuladze.
  • The agreement to fully return the Georgian film archive from Gosfilmofond was signed in 2014.

    According to the document of historical importance, Russian Film Fund will gradually transfer Georgian films shot from 1921 to 1991 kept in the Fund's archive. So far, 51 films have returned to Georgia.
