"Georgian traditional church music - Georgian chants have been granted the status of a monument of intangible cultural heritage!
Polyphonic Georgian chants are one of the main symbols of our national identity and, at the same time, the greatest cultural achievement of humanity. This great recognition will contribute to its protection, teaching, and development, to the greater interest of the Georgian or international community, including the youth, to the widespread popularization of the Georgian cultural heritage.
This achievement was made possible by the initiative and efforts of the State Folklore Center. I congratulate each employee of the center and, with them, the whole community," Irakli Gharibashvili writes.
