Premiere of Georgian-German film in the main competition of Berlin International Film Festival

After a 30-year pause, the Georgian-German feature film "What do we see when we look at the sky?" will be presented in the Berlin International Film Festival's main competition, the National Film Center reports.

"After Temur Babluani's film "The Sun of the Sleepless" received Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1993, no full-length Georgian film was selected in the festival's main competition. After a pause of almost 30 years, Alexandre Koberidze's film's world premiere will take place. The film is a Georgian-German co-production, and its title is "What do we see when we look at the sky?". The film's main roles are played by Giorgi Bochorishvili, Ana Karseladze, Oliko Barbakadze, Giorgi Ambroladze, and Vakhtang Panchulidze," the film center revealed.

Due to the pandemic, the 71st Berlin International Film Festival will not be held in the usual format. The European Film Virtual Market Industry Event will be held on March 1-5, and the films selected by the festival will be screened as part of the Summer Special on June 9-20.

At the same time, the National Film Center will present the Georgian pavilion at the Berlin International Film Festival for the sixteenth time this year, where the team of the National Film Center will work in the industrial field under the leadership of the director of the center, Gaga Chkheidze. Due to the pandemic, the pavilion will be virtual, and meetings will be held online with film festival programmers, sales agents, distributors, and producers.
