Tour of the Movement Theater to end today

The 3-day tour of the Movement Theater in Samtskhe-Javakheti will end today. Within the tour, Akhaltsikhe will host the Carnival of the Movement Theater, Jam Session, and the Georgian-American musical "Tamada in Manhattan," which was staged by American director Paul Gordon Emerson at the Movement Theater in 2019.

It is a joint work of the Washington Theater Сompany E, and the Movement Theater staged as part of the American-Georgian Theater Collaboration Project.

This is an International Culture for Integration project funded by the US Embassy Alumni Grant Program in Samtskhe-Javakheti. Within the first stage of the project, Ioseb Bakuradze, the Movement Theater's artistic director, staged the play "Thirst" by the American playwright Eugene O'Neill at the Meskheti Theater.

It is a play without a language barrier for spectators of any nationality.

At the second stage, the Movement Theater representatives held master classes for local youth in Akhaltsikhe: Contemporary Theater and Performing Arts, Sandro Nikoladze Jam Session Masterclass, Event PR and Marketing, Social Media Management, Event Management.

The third stage envisages a tour of the Georgian-American musical "Tamada in Manhattan" in Ninotsminda, Akhalkalaki, and Akhaltsikhe. The project aims to share the Movement Theater concept as a multi-profile international cultural center for a region populated by ethnic minorities. For many years, spectators of different nationalities have gathered at various types of events of the Movement Theater, and it has become a kind of center of international culture in Tbilisi.

Sharing the concept of movement theater will help local youth plan events where people of all nationalities will be able to gather, facilitating the integration process. The project is funded through the Alumni Grants Program of the US Embassy in Georgia, a supporter of the Movement Theater tour.
