In the first quarter of 2021, 11 314 people arrived in Georgia from Azerbaijan, the report of the National Tourism Administration of Georgia reveals. In the first quarter of this year, the number of Azerbaijani visitors decreased by 250,876 people, or 95.7%, compared to last year.

Azerbaijan ranked third in the number of visitors to Georgia after Turkey (50,720 people) and Armenia (15,316 people).

In January-March, a total of 130,188 international guests from neighboring countries visited Georgia, which is 88.4% less than the total amount for the first three months of 2020.

Representatives of the Azerbaijani media visited Georgia on the first press tour in the post-pandemic period. Journalists and bloggers visited Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Martvili, Senaki and Shekvetili. During the one-week tour, foreign journalists visited Prometheus Cave, Sataplia, Okatse Canyon, Kinchkha Waterfall, Martvili Canyon, Nokalakevi Architectural-Archaeological Museum-Reserve, Armazi Fortress in Mtskheta, Bagineti, and Jvari Monastery. After the tour, articles and video blogs about the tourist destinations of Georgia will be prepared.

Azerbaijan is an important tourist market for Georgia. In 2019, most of the international travelers came to Georgia from Azerbaijan. The number of visits amounted to 1,526,619.
