The number of deaths in the workplace in 2019 decreased by 35% in Georgia.
As Deputy Minister of Health of Georgia Tamar Barkalaia said, the number of labor inspectors was gradually increasing during the coronavirus pandemic.
"About 900 inspections were carried out, and over the past six months, the number of checks exceeded 12,000. In 2019, we saw an excellent result—the number of deaths in the workplace reduced by 35%. Our goal is to strengthen preventive measures further and cooperate with employers to minimize the number of deaths and accidents in the workplace. So recommendations are being developed, and the labor inspectors' mandate has intensified,'' Barkalaia said.
