In the first nine months of this year, 283 351 people from Azerbaijan visited Georgia.
According to the National Tourism Administration report, the number of visitors from Azerbaijan decreased by 886 480 people, or 75.8%, compared to 9 months of the previous year.
In January-September, Georgia received a total of 1 597 528 foreigners, which is 78% less than in the same period last year.
The decrease in visitors this year is due to the coronavirus pandemic, although the tourist attraction of Georgia and the war situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, close to the Georgian border, is also contributing to losing tourist attractiveness.
To promote business tourism, the Government of Georgia offers employees of various global companies in 95 countries to work remotely for at least 180 days. Those wishing to arrive fill out special forms in advance at https://stopcov.ge/ and confirm the necessary conditions for entering the country. Besides, they must fully provide a 2-week quarantine and testing with their funds. The list of these countries includes Azerbaijan and Armenia.
